Using Pomodoro
Using Pomodoro is as fun as the sound of its name; unless you get to the essence of it you wont get it. I applied the pomodoro technique today when I had tons of tasks pending and cleaning my dorm was top of the list.
To begin with, I set up the timer for 25 mins. And my task was to wash all the utensils in the room which me and my roommates had used previously. I was thinking that I had actually chosen a simpler task and I will be left with plenty of spare time. I went to the kitchen with basket full of dirty dishes. And Oh boy, scrubbing the pots is no easy deal. In fact, it took me 23 minutes to do with all of the dishes. And as a reward I treated myself with a handful of MnM’s. (What is in the world that MnM’s can’t cure!? )
My next task to clean my room. I set up the timer once again, for 25 minutes. I began with arranging my books. Then I cleared my nightstand, changed the sheets and put dirty clothes in the laundry basket. And the timer beeped already. This time my 5-minute treat consisted of scrolling the Instagram feed.
The task I chose next was to clean my cupboard (I went on clean spree, actually). Due to a very hectic daily routine, I had been stuffing things inside my cupboard and it had actually assumed the form of a junkyard. And it literally took me 27 minutes to clean it. I imagine my mother would have already disowned me if she saw my cupboard like this. My reward was a 4-minute stand-up comedy video of Abhishek Upmanyu (He is brown Chandler Bing).
Having completed 3 tasks the last one I decided to finish was to press my clothes. In the time of 25 minutes I manages to press 4 dresses.
It was a very fun activity and it helped me stay organized. I’d love to implement it in my life more often.
